Andrew's Journal Day 5 (May 3rd)

On Sunday we wake up and head to the Church of Uganda.  Unfortunately we missed the English service but decided to go to the one in the local language anyways.  This didn’t bother me too much because I spent the majority of the service exchanging smiles with the little kids who stared at us the whole time.  Some are so shy that when they realize you’re smiling at them they hide their faces so we can’t see their smiles.  When we return we head to Mary’s house because her family has insisted she bring us.  Her house is literally at the top of a mountain and we are huffing and puffing by the time we reach the top.  Her family prepared an amazing feast of local food for us and all of the children are so happy to see us.  After lunch we talk outside with her family and they decided to pick their friends.  If they chose you, you were given an assignment to do which they would remember you by.  These included feeding the chickens, goats, and cows, as well as planting matoke (bananas) and eggplant.  As we are leaving we stop  by her aunt’s house, who makes us sit and stay a little.  It took a lot of convincing for us to leave (they wanted us to stay the night.)  As we left, her aunt gave us a clump of flowers wrapped in leaves as a present (Mary explains she had nothing to give us but wanted to give us a present.)  The people here are too nice.  After a long travel back we have a small dinner and watch a movie before bed.
